Over the years Cars has become known for providing decent beat for the dollar, and this lightweight cross-over is the same to this rule. Prize navigation includes all the above plus a navigation system, touch-screen in real-time traffic information, and Rear View Camera (HD radio has been removed).


The technology package adds additional premium charge, or computers with adaptive HID headlights, parking sensors front and rear, adaptive cruise control, an electronic parking brake, a ventilated driver's seat, Bluetooth, a multimedia interface button and rotary real-time updates of traffic and a Lexicon 17-speaker "discrete" sound with DVD-Audio capability.

2011 Hyundai Sonata

Who would have imagined a few years ago that there was so much interest in the new generation of Hyundai Sonata, we would be fully justified to remain until the morning to write a message to the car ... But times are changing, the GM has gone in and out of bankruptcy protection, the Fiat Group has purchased Chrysler and surprise, surprise, Hyundai has surpassed Ford to become first half of the Group's fourth largest producer of automobiles in the world. That's it. But let's go back to the wind Sonata. After taking more losses in New Orleans, the Korean manufacturer has officially launched a four-door sedan at home on the market today.

"Sonata sets a new standard for world class medium-sized sedans with state-of-the-art technology, excellent design and emotional design," said Euisun Chung, vice president of Hyundai Car Event in Seoul. "The new Hyundai Sonata to raise the brand's values."

It may not be the Alfa Romeo, but compared to its predecessor, boring and unimaginative, we could say that the sixth-generation Sonata will be a big step (a call that a jump) forward in terms of design. Some even claim that clearly accepts the so-called style tips, four-door coupe segment as the line hit the roof and back squat, and they're probably right.

Sonata also boasts a fresh modern interior design, which complies with the latest products of Korean society, as the new Tucson / ix35 SUV, which was revealed this week at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Size wise Sonata is a 4820 mm long, 1835 mm wide and 1470 mm in length and wheelbase of 2795 mm and is slightly longer and wider, but slightly lower than the outgoing model.

The Sonata, which can be sold under a different name in some regions (eg, i40 in Europe) will be available at launch in its home market with a 2.0-liter Theta II gasoline MPI with 165HP and 144HP is a GPL version . Both engines are mated to a new six-speed automatic transmission.

Hyundai said it will add a 2.4-liter Theta II GDI petrol engine range in the month of January next year. This engine is offered as a standard model in the U.S. market.

All versions of the Sonata is equipped with a standard vehicle dynamic control, Hill-start Assist Control and function of the brake assist system. 2011 Hyundai Tucson

Performance
This entry-level new Tucson GL, comes with a Theta II 2.0-liter four-cylinder. With six-speed automatic transmission that comes with technology Shiftronic integrated, leading to the fuel efficiency rating of 31 miles per gallon on the highway and 23 miles per gallon in the city. Jetta TDI Test: VW Jetta TDI vs. Hyundai Elantra Limited

In just two short months, the odometer on our long-term 2011 VW Jetta has already rolled past 5,000 miles. That's more than twice the national average for miles driven per month, and our goal is to continue racking them up until next April.
We recently had the opportunity to travel to Chattanooga, Tenn., a 120-mile drive from the AutoTrader HQ, to tour Volkswagen's new factory and get behind the wheel of the upcoming 2012 Volkswagen Passat. Since it was a short drive, it made sense to hop into our Jetta, rather than a jet. Interestingly enough, a 2011 Hyundai Elantra Limited arrived in our garage just before we left.
Now, there are a few things that are significant about the Elantra this year. It was totally reimagined for 2011, and Hyundai aimed to make it a major contender in the market. The Elantra is beautifully designed with swooping curves, large wheels and a gorgeous interior, and Hyundai has packed the car so full of technology and premium features that would feel right at home next to a Mercedes S-Class. Navigation, sunroof heated front and rear seats, automatic headlights  and a six-speed automatic transmission ? the Elantra follows the same "unexpectedly luxurious" mantra successfully implemented by the bigger Sonata and Genesis.
Plus the EPA rates the Elantra's gasoline engine at 40 miles per gallon on the highway. Wait ? 40 mpg? That's surprisingly close to the 42 mpg rating for our Jetta TDI. We think Olga wants to rumble.

Comparably Equipped, Mostly
When it comes to features, the Elantra wins, hands down. Sitting side by side, the Elantra Limited is similarly equipped at a lower price than the Volkswagen. Though there aren't many differences, the Hyundai comes with real, albeit somewhat stiff, leather seats instead of leatherette, automatic headlights and heated rear seats, all for just under $23,000. The Jetta costs around $26,000, but it has heavy, substantial feeling doors that swing and click closed in a way that only German cars do, while the Elantra's doors feel thin and hollow by comparison. Both cars come equipped with navigation, satellite radio and keyless ignition, so we push the start buttons and head north for the mountains.
German Driving Advantage
On the highway, both cars are smooth, comfortable rides, but each has its own special brand of road noise. The Jetta's dash is made of hard plastics, and in our short ownership so far, it's already developed a few minor creaks and rattles. Turning up the music drowns them out with ease, but given that our test Elantra had more miles on the odometer and lacked any rumblings from its soft-touch dash, we think it's worth mentioning. The Elantra isn't without fault, though, because its tiny 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine whines at high speeds. While the Jetta's diesel engine emitted only a low burble for the duration of the drive, the Elantra struggled to keep up at highway speeds, and its audible engine drone was distracting.
Probably the most noteworthy difference in the cars comes with the steering. With its beefy, weighted wheel and intuitive response, the Jetta feels planted at 75 mph. By comparison, the Elantra feels nervous at speed, and both of our drivers complained about the amount of work required keeping the Hyundai in place with its overly fussy electrically-assisted steering. The Jetta is the clear victor here.

Not Quite 40 MPG
Of course we were maintaining a brisk pace and driving uphill into the Appalachian Mountains, but neither car achieved its full fuel economy potential. The EPA rates the Elantra at 29 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the highway, while the Jetta comes in at 30 city/42 highway. During the course of this all-interstate drive, the Hyundai averaged a total of 35.1 mpg, while the Jetta made a competitive 38.4. Given that the price of diesel is typically costs 30 cents more than regular 87-octane gasoline, we can't conclusively name a fuel-sipping winner.
After almost 250 miles in each car, we think both the Volkswagen Jetta and the Hyundai Elantra make excellent companions for long commutes. The loaded Elantra is a value buy for the consumer most interested with getting premium-grade features in their economy ride. The Jetta TDI has the heart of an enthusiast's car, though, and while it may not have quite as many bells and whistles, it's certainly more fun to drive.

Hyundai has had a busy time this year unveiling its new ix20 MPV, the refreshed i10 and new developments for its Blue Drive eco-focused programme.The ix20 is aimed at the likes of the Kia Venga, Citroen C3 Picasso and Vauxhall Meriva and is available with a choice of two petrol and two diesel engines in November for around £11,500.

The diesels, both 1.4 litres, come in 77bhp or 90bhp versions with the 77bhp variant emitting 119g/km of CO2 and averaging 63mpg. The more powerful 90bhp version returns 46mpg and emits 140g/km of CO2. The Blue Drive economy versions of the diesels emit 114g/km and 139g/km of CO2, while returning 66mpg and 47mpg respectively.

The Hyundai Elantra (Korean: 현대 엘란트라), or Hyundai Avante (현대 아반떼) in South Korea, is a compact car from Hyundai of South Korea launched in October 1990 for the 1991 model year, and now in its fifth generation.The Elantra was formerly marketed as the Lantra in Australia and some European markets. In Australia, this was due to the similarly named Mitsubishi Magna Elante model. This gave rise to disagreement from other motor manufacturers, and the name was standardized as "Elantra" worldwide in 2001 (with the exception being Korea and Malaysia still selling under the name "Avante").The Elantra was powered by a Mitsubishi-designed 1.6 L (1596 cc) straight-4 This DOHC 16-valve 1.6 L unit produced 113 hp (84 kW) at 6000 rpm and could push the Elantra to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 9.5 seconds. The quarter-mile (0.4 km) run took 17.1 seconds and produced 80 mph (129 km/h). Top speed was 116 mph (187 km/h). The Elantra got 22 mpg[clarification needed](10.7 L/100 km) in the city cycle. Starting in 1993 there was also a Mitsubishi-designed 1.8 L (1836 cc) straight-4 engine available the 1.8L unit that produced 124 hp (99 kW) at 6000 rpm.The Hyundai Elantra was facelifted in 1992 for the European market, adding Hyundai's current logo to the grille, although North American models retained the previous year's look. In 1993, the vehicle was facelifted again. The third (second in North America) and final facelift of this generation occurred in 1994 for both front and rear fascias.The GLS trim is the standard trim for the Elantra. The top of the line model, the GT trim, came with a stiffer suspension, leather seats, fog lights, alloy wheels, lip spoiler and blue-lit instrument cluster. It was offered as a hatchback since 2001 as a 2002 model year vehicle. The only options for the GT trim were a power moonroof and anti-lock brakes with traction control. The only major option was a Kenwood MP3/CD deck. The GT trim sedan was introduced in 2003 and discontinued in 2005. The GT trim was replaced with the Limited trim for the 2006 model year. The limited trim featured new paint colors, a chrome vertical grille, leather interior with leather steering wheel and leather shifter, and wood trim. The Limited trim did not feature alloy wheels, only steel rims with a 6-spoke cover featured in the GLS model. The GT trim for the five door was produced for the remainder of the 2006 model year.The Elantra is available with 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 L gasoline engines and a 2.0 L turbodiesel. North American models are only available with the 2.0L gasoline engine. The 1.8 engine is a 1.6 engine modified for the New Zealand market.While compact on the outside, it is listed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency‎ as a mid-size car because of a spacious interior. Although the basic powertrain design has changed little since the second generation, successive improvements have improved fuel economy from an EPA rating of 24 mpg-US (9.8 L/100 km; 29 mpg-imp)/33 mpg-US (7.1 L/100 km; 40 mpg-imp) to 25 mpg-US (9.4 L/100 km; 30 mpg-imp)/33 mpg-US (7.1 L/100 km; 40 mpg-imp) and the current 27 mpg-US (8.7 L/100 km; 32 mpg-imp)/34 mpg-US (6.9 L/100 km; 41 mpg-imp) for manual transmissions, with automatic producing 23 mpg-US (10 L/100 km; 28 mpg-imp)-3 mpg-US (78 L/100 km; 3.6 mpg-imp) fewer. Horsepower also improved from 135 hp (100 kW) to 138 hp (102 kW) and torque from 132 to 136 mainly thanks to the addition of continuously variable valve timing (CVVT) in 2004. Originally, the horsepower rating was misrepresented as 140 hp (104 kW). In 2006 the Elantra was offered with a SULEV emission rated engine in some U.S. states.
