Efteling

Add Ram to Computer to solve Lag and Hang and increase the Speed

I have 2gb ram on my computer, I didn't format my computer for 2 years already, so my computer is very lag, very slow, and sometime when I opening 60 tabs on chrome, it will hang there for 10 minutes. I can't press and can't click anything within the 10 minutes. It was so annoying!!! So I have decided to add extra 2gb ram (total 4gb). Before buying a new ram, I need to know my motherboard can support what type of ram, DDR or DDR2 or DDR3. So the first thing I need to do is find out what is the brand model of my motherboard. I opened the box to find the manual book and cd which come along when I bought the computer last time. Picture below show the brand model of my motherboard is DG31PR :

After I know the brand model of my motherboard, I went to google search the ram type that can be supported by my motherboard by the keyword "ram for DG31PR" and the result show that only DDR2 ram can be supported by DG31PR motherboard. So I go search the best price for 2bg DDR2 ram. The best price of 2gb DDR2 ram is RM83 (Kingstand brand, available at PC DEPOT computer shop). Too bad that time was already 8p.m, PC DEPOT close shop at 6p.m, I want to buy the ram immediately, so I went to Prangin Mall computer shop to buy it which will be more expensive. I bought 2gb DDR2 ram at RM90 (Corsair brand). I wasted RM7 just because want to get it immediately, damn! Picture below shows the Corsair brand 2gb DDR2 ram that I bought :

After I bought the ram, I install the ram into my computer motherboard, my computer motherboard has 2 slots for 2 rams. Originally I have inserted 1 piece of ram onto a slot, another slot is empty. So I just need to insert the new ram onto the empty slot as show on picture below :

Picture below shows the red arrow indicate the slot that already has the old ram, the yellow arrow indicate the empty slot where I can insert my new ram :
After I have inserted the new ram onto my motherboard, I switched on my computer to test the speed. I opened Task Manager to check the ram info to see the different between before and after I inserted the new ram, picture below shows the result :
After 29 minutes I switched on my computer :

After 10 hours I switched on my computer :

Let me explain how to read / interpret / understand the ram information from the two pictures above. Up time shows how many hours did u switch on your computer. Free shows how many free ram left. Physical Memory at bottom is the key!!! The Physical Memory = 93% when the computer has 2gb ram only. The Physical Memory = 77% when the computer has 4gb ram only. 100% - 77% = 23%. So I still have extra 23% physical memory after I switch on my computer for 10 hours. My computer doesn't lag anymore, doesn't hang anymore, doesn't slow anymore is because of this 23%!!!

From the first picture (After 29 minutes I switched on computer), you might wondering why Free shows 0 value after I added extra 2gb ram? Supposedly I should have more free ram after added extra 2gb ram right? Why It is still 0 free ram? It is because I am using Windows Vista. Free will show 0 value on Windows Vista, but Free will show 1500mb value on Windows XP, it is because Windows Vista / 7 is using different memory management system if compare to Windows Me / XP.

I am using Windows Vista, so the word "free" is NOT indicate the free of RAM, it indicates the free of CACHE actually. The processor inside CPU has 2 Cache components : level 1 cache, level 2 cache.

For Windows Vista / 7 :
System Memory are divided into 3 components :
1) level 1 cache (processor),
2) level 2 cache (processor),
3) main memory (ram).

Fetching the data from level 1 cache is faster than level 2 cache, level 2 cache is faster than main memory(ram) :
Level 1 cache (Processor) is 283x faster,
Level 2 cache (Processor) is 82x faster,
Main memory (Ram) is 37x faster.

If computer doesn't finish use the cache, if there are some free or remaining cache which is not used yet, it mean the cache is WASTED!!! We must fully use all the cache then only it is WORTH!!! Windows Vista / 7 is fully utilizing all caches effectively. When you open very few files on computer, there are very few data to store in cache, the computer will simply pick the useless data and put them into cache, because if lucky, u will use those useless data in cache in future. More info at here.

For Windows Me / XP :
When you open a bunch of programs, your PC has to store all the relevant data somewhere. It tries to store everything in memory (ie RAM) which is nice and fast.

If you have too much stuff open (eg multiple tabs in Firefox), and/or if you don't have much RAM (eg 512Mb), then all the data won't fit in RAM. Windows makes a guess of what you're not using right now, and moves it from RAM to disk, into the Page File. Next time you access that program, Windows copies the data back out of the Page File and into RAM.

[In tech speak, thats called a 'page fault' - ie the data windows was looking for isn't in RAM, but in the page file. Getting data from disk is much slower than getting it from RAM.]

If your Page File gets big: this means you have a lot of programs open using memory, and it doesn't all fit into RAM. If the PF is large then maybe a lot of the time Windows looks for data, it's in the PF rather than RAM. You'll get a lot of "page faults", and the computer will be slow. More info at here.

Did adding ram really help to fix lagging, hanging, and slow problem? My answer is 100% absolutely YES!!! When my computer has 2gb ram, I need to wait 2 seconds everytime I open a folder. And after on my computer for 3 hours, I opened 60 tabs on Chrome, when I switch tab on Chrome also will delay 3 seconds, sometime even worse will not responding and hang there for 10 minutes!!!

After adding extra 2gb ram, my computer has 4gb ram now. I need to wait 0.01 second everytime I open a folder. And after on my computer for 3 hours, or even 10 hours, I opened 60 tabs on Chrome, when I switch tab on Chrome, it won't delay anymore, won't not responding and won't hang too. I am so happy!!!

2011 Honda CR-Z

A hybrid sport? At first glance, the 2011 Honda CR-Z may seem a little 'contradictory. After all, Americans are waiting for hybrid cars for purely about saving fuel, flowers, rainbows and unicorns coming out of the exhaust pipe. But Honda hopes that the people are ready for a car that not only wears out very good, but it also happens to be fun to drive - without the hybrid drive due to narcolepsy, if desired.

2011 Honda CR-Z

You may recall that Honda actually tried this approach several years ago with the Accord Hybrid, Accord V6 a promising solid performance and improved fuel economy. Sales were slow, however, and Honda has canceled the car after a short term. Of course, those of you with an even longer memory also remember the original Honda CRX, CR-Z crystallizes spiritual predecessor to Honda's reputation for building cars fun and effective from the 1980s through the early 1990.

As the old CRX, CR-Z is front-wheel drive with two doors and two seats. Mechanically, however, the CR-Z is related to the latest Honda Insight hybrid, shares its basic structure and suspension design. To bring a bit of sport that Honda is the formula shorter than the CR-Z on one foot, the road was widened and a slight reduction in height in a few centimeters. This division does not reduce the empty weight of everything you would expect (the CR-Z weighs about 80 pounds lighter than the Insight) but makes the car CR-Z the most agile, you can buy.

Under Integrated Motor Assist Honda is familiar bell (IMA) mild hybrid system. For more power, the CR-Z starts with a gasoline engine a little larger than the penetration (1.5 vs. 1.3 liters), which produces 112 horsepower and 107 lb-ft of torque. The electric motor is the same and produces another 13 horsepower and 58 lb-ft. In particular, Honda offers a six-speed manual transmission, besides the typical hybrid drive continuously variable (CVT). The resulting fuel economy is not exactly like the Prius, but still quite good, with the return of the CVT variant mpg in the city about 35 and 39 mpg highway.

The end result of all this is that Honda has effectively created a hybrid sport. CR-Z seems strong and is fun to drive around the city thanks to its small size and quick steering. There are certainly pleased to have a winding road, too. But when you press the CR-Z really hard, its dynamic limits quickly accessible via the tire grip and roll remarkably modest. Serious driving enthusiasts will likely be put out of it and maybe along the way Honda will see fit to make a sporty version of silicon.

2011 Honda CR-Z

The layout makes two-door/two-seat Honda CR-Z 2011 an anomaly near the market, but there are more conventional choices. Mini Cooper has the closest competition, and it has some advantages such as a rear seat (albeit a small one), and greater customization. Another option is the new Ford Fiesta. Although a four-door, it is also small, economical and sporty to drive. Both of these competitors may have functions with CR-Z is absent, such as a sunroof, keyless ignition, heated leather seats. Scion tC is also new to watch. However, we like the CR-Z and we believe that consumers looking for a sports city will be happy.

2011 Honda Fit

We urge Honda to make the system standard on all models of sliding Fit - 2011 all come with a Toyota Yaris - so it is gratifying that the manufacturer provides a passage for the 2011 model year. Similarly, by providing the basic model with a USB interface for iPod and remote keyless entry, instead of restricting these features for the Sport version is another step in the right direction competitive. All Fit Sport models now are equipped with mats, which had previously been an extra-cost accessory. Beyond these changes, the list of 2011 has adjustment reflects the 2010 version.

2011 Honda Fit

Adjustment does not offer a sunroof, leather, or - a few cars in this price range - but is available with a navigation system factory installed properly. The configuration includes voice recognition, a control panel screen of 6.5 inches, and a card reader digital audio. The navigation system is still limited to the Fit Sport, where its addition creates a distinct pattern.

Standard features on all 2011 suits include air conditioning, power windows with automatic window up / down Power door locks, driver, and the tilt and telescope steering column. Exclusive to fit the models are sporting the security system, a leather steering wheel, reading lights and cabin. Sport models also receive a softer rear anti-roll bar handling.

Install the audio system is a 160-watt single CD unit with four speakers on the six basic models and athletes. In addition to the USB interface all have an extra connector for digital players. 2011-Fit is always available connectivity with Bluetooth handsfree mobile phone, however. Bluetooth is an improved safety and convenience that are increasingly available on the sub-compact competitors.

Adjust the characteristics that define innovation called Honda remains a Magic Seat. This triumph of the levers and hinges allow the seat and back cushions 60/40 split folding almost ground level. Place soil is generally low because the fuel tank is located under the front seat and fold the Magic Seat provides a platform deep, van-like load. The design also allows adjustment of the seat cushion support Magic the tip, creating a gulf side of the side behind the front seats big enough to swallow such large objects like a bicycle. The back of the front passenger seat also folds to fit can carry long objects like skis.

2011 Honda Fit

In total, the 2011 Fit is the leader in the subcompact class cargo volume, with an impressive 20.6 Cu behind the rear seat and a compact crossover SUV 57.3 cubic feet with the seat completely folded Magic.

2011 Honda Insight

The 2011 Honda Insight has a silhouette looking a bit like the Toyota Prius. This is not an error, sculpted shape is to cut the air with less resistance.

However, the design allows convenient hatchback, Honda and manages to integrate an impressive degree of design details for a vehicle at low prices. A civic influence on two levels, two-tone instrument panel welcomes you inside, and is far enough forward to allow a feeling of spaciousness for those in the front. Center stack, except the sound system and navigation screen are oriented toward the driver and temperature controls are similar to the adjustment, focusing on their own field right round the wheel instead of in the middle.

2011 Honda Insight

2011 Honda Insight, the foundation is all we know: It takes basically the front of the Honda Fit hatchback, and is the boys version of Integrated Motor Assist the Honda Civic Hybrid (IMA), a mild-hybrid, which contains a VTEC 1 , 3-liter four-cylinder, an electric motor to supplement the system and work together 98 horsepower and 123 pound-feet of torque. The hybrid system captures energy during deceleration and braking to help out the acceleration.

Overall, the transmission seems to be more impatient than the Prius, but not quite at the level of "normal" Powertrain Honda Civic. Thanks for the IMA system, has a lot of torque to take off quickly stop lights, and the power goes well. Insight is not really a sports car, but the eco-minded drivers meet all the street corners is pleased with the way the Insight operates. Insight does not change direction as sharp as the Honda Fit, but it feels safe in all but the tightest corners, unexpected self-confidence at high speed cruising. Brakes are front disc, rear drum, but he feels up to the task.

The 2011 Honda Insight might be a bit shorter and thinner than other small cars, but not tight headroom back offers comfort. The front seats are a bit short and flat vision, but is covered with a thin cloth, mesh, which is adherent and comfortable, and there are plenty of safety margin. Unfortunately, behind the front seats, which is not so perfect, the rear seat can accommodate three children or two adults, but headroom is very difficult due to the sloping roofline.

2011 Honda Insight

Interior appointments Insight is about equally balanced manner of other Honda cars is small, in other words, there is a lot of soft surfaces, but feels solidly assembled and the dashboard and doors are well-grained plastic. Ride quality is good, although a few passages of 100 cm, and the interior is quiet and polite, except when you press the gas on the ground, causing the engine to be pretty rough.

Grooving the Insight LX, the base Insight is new this year to $ 18.950, and includes remote entry, automatic climate control, tilt steering wheel / telescopic, power windows and locks, and a two PA speakers. LX and EX add more amenities, and the EX model above, you can switch to a navigation system with voice recognition 6.5 inches, comes with hands-free calls.

2011 Honda Odyssey

Honda unveiled its new 2011 Odyssey minivan, a vehicle the automaker becomes more style than the previous model.

2010-Odyssey is a high quality, people-mover, but elegant is certainly not the first adjective that comes to mind when he describes. We are not sure of the redesigned 2011 Odyssey is looking good, but we appreciate that Honda has made design a priority. What do you think of the 2011 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite her looks?

2011 Honda Odyssey

It begins with Beltline "lightning" because it is a characteristic of odyssey. In comparison with the 2010 Odyssey is a dish Beltline chrome trim, the new minivan has a lot of interesting profiles. Then there are the front and rear door handles, which are united, suicide-style door instead of leaving Honda separate from the door handles. Which do you prefer?

Moving backward, we see Honda still refuses to place the rail sliding door just below the waistline, as the Dodge Grand Caravan and Toyota Sienna. Perhaps Odyssey provides some "design points" to its competitors, but others have nothing to style MPV rear Odyssey. Attractive rear lights are joined by a red and white trim piece where a thick chrome bar was placed 2010-on model.

2011 Honda Odyssey

Look carefully at the 2011 Odyssey, and you will see that the rear window is not completely rectangular than the 2010 model, which is not a minivan around a new spoiler dynamic.

Go to the front, and well, we're not really satisfied with the project both from Odyssey. Perhaps the 2011 Odyssey of the Acura-like headlights associated with punch-out grille is growing on us over time. And 'more than we can say that the outgoing model, which is locked in a small chrome grille and a large surrounding.

2011 Honda Odyssey

We have no complaints (yet) in 2011 Odyssey. All in all, it seems to be an improvement over the outgoing model, with a much larger area devoted to the navigation screen, and central air vents, which are more intelligent position than before.

2011 Honda Pilot

At a Glance, 2011 Honda Pilot seems to do a good job as a transporter family. There is plenty of space for children and goods, provides excellent results of the crash, and with Honda's sterling reputation for reliability. But there are three main areas that remind driver package: its slow acceleration, braking performance and poor fuel consumption average. Any excuse to be alone, but together combine to set this driver drifting in the ocean of very worthy competitors.

2011 Honda Pilot

On the positive side, Honda has made a point to give the pilot of the third row homes large enough to accommodate real adults back there, if you are looking for an alternative mini-van, it could very well . Driver has a typical well-cushioned ride, smooth powertrain and optional unit on all four wheels are present and accounted for. This year, only a couple of minor changes in the availability function - navigation is now an option on EX-L and a rear DVD entertainment system is now included in the top of the line Touring.

2011 Honda Pilot

Overall, we believe that the 2011 Honda Pilot is an appropriate choice for a crossover mid-sized or large SUV. But consumers increasingly aware that the competition test is likely that the pilot comes a bit short - reputable or not. Ford Flex is an all around good candidate in this area, offering a more comfortable interior, more features and better performance. Chevrolet Traverse (and its Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia twins), Hyundai Veracruz, Mazda CX-9 and Toyota Highlander are also chooses strong. It may seem unusual, to say it but this Honda is just not a very competitive pickup in its class.

+Plus :
Pleasant ride, decently roomy third-row seat, smooth V6, clever interior storage features, perfect crash test scores.

- Minus :
Poor braking performance, sluggish acceleration, unremarkable fuel economy, button-heavy center stack.
